Suspected serial killer confesses to killing 42 women including his wife

A chilling confession has sent shockwaves through Nairobi, Kenya, as a 33-year-old man, Collins Jumaisi, admitted to killing 42 women, including his own wife, and dumping their remains in a quarry in the city's south.

Jumaisi, a resident of the Mukuru neighbourhood near the quarry, was arrested early Monday morning.  Police have so far recovered nine bodies from the site, with the acting head of police, Douglas Kanja Kirocho, labeling the case a "psychopathic serial killer who has no respect for human life."

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) head, Amin Mohamed, revealed that Jumaisi confessed to luring and killing the victims, starting with his wife in 2022 and continuing until July 11.

At Jumaisi's home, police discovered a disturbing collection of items, including multiple mobile phones, identity cards, a machete believed to be used to dismember the victims, industrial rubber gloves, rolls of sellotape, and a dozen nylon sacks similar to those used to transport the bodies.

The discovery of the remains has sparked outrage and fear among local residents, with many gathering to watch the recovery operation over the weekend, some clashing with police.  Rumors circulating about the bodies being linked to alleged abductions of young protesters during recent street demonstrations fueled public anger.

While the police have not yet linked the remains to the protests, they have confirmed they are analyzing samples to identify the deceased and are actively investigating the case.

The horrific confession and the gruesome discovery have cast a dark shadow over the city, highlighting the vulnerability of women and the need for intensified efforts to combat violence against them.  The investigation into Jumaisi's crimes is ongoing, with authorities striving to shed light on the motives behind this chilling series of murders.
